In addition to being the downtown of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur also is the best central base for exploring all of the other towns along the Malaysian peninsula, none of which is more than a day’s journey away. Each of these little towns has its own unique atmosphere, from busy gambling casino towns to less populated cooler villages at higher elevations, to resorts along the beach with unforgettable restaurants, to small virtually uninhabited islands where nature remains untouched at its equatorial best, as it has for centuries.
